Alcoholism is a disease that affects not only the patient&#8217;s physical body, but also significantly destroys his or her psyche and affects socio-cultural aspects. In this case, compulsory medical intervention may be necessary to save lives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Self-harm or a threat to others &#8211; if a person is intoxicated and poses a real threat to their health or the health of others, their compulsory hospitalization will be justified.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Irresponsible behavior &#8211; in cases where a person is in a state of severe alcohol intoxication and their behavior indicates a threat to the safety of others, hospitalization and treatment may be carried out without the patient&#8217;s consent. But it will still be needed for further therapy.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>State of helplessness &#8211; if a person is in a state where they are unable to make informed decisions about their health due to alcohol intoxication, a decision may be made to hospitalize them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the case of <strong>alcoholism, compulsory treatment <\/strong>is used in extreme cases when other methods are ineffective and when preserving life and health is a top priority. It is important to understand that without the patient&#8217;s consent, doctors can only provide emergency care. Their desire to help, to cure, to direct to a different path is natural and understandable. But compulsory treatment is not possible only at the request of a relative. In Ukraine, it is prohibited by law. Compulsory detention in a clinic and treatment for alcoholism is possible only by court order. Relatives must submit an application in which the request for therapy without the patient&#8217;s consent is justified by real reasons. But it is important to understand that <strong>compulsory treatment of alcohol dependence <\/strong>will not bring <strong>results <\/strong>. It is only an opportunity to bring the patient back to consciousness for a short period and to develop motivation for treatment.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can get rid of alcoholism completely only by your own will and with a lot of effort.
