There are many <strong>reasons <\/strong>for delirium <strong>tremens <\/strong>. All of them are somehow related to changes in brain structures caused by external or internal factors.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Causes of delirium<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>alcohol or drug abuse;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>serious infections (for example, sepsis);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cardiovascular diseases;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>metabolic disorders (e.g., electrolyte imbalance);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>head injuries;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>post-stroke condition;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>operations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>damage to the liver or kidneys;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>canceling or changing medications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most often, delirium tremens develops on the background of alcoholism. A person who abuses alcohol causes serious harm to his or her health. Not only internal organs and systems are destroyed, but also the psychological sphere. The effect of alcohol on the brain causes a strong physiological reaction. Symptoms of delirium are easy to recognize:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Patients with delirium tremens may experience changes in their level of consciousness. They may be sleepy, insensitive, or overly excited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patients may experience difficulties with orientation in time (not knowing what time of day, day of week, date) or in place (not knowing where they are).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mental symptoms may include delusions (nonsensical or incoherent beliefs), hallucinations (sights or sounds that do not exist in reality), fears, or paranoia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In delirium tremens, anxiety, nervousness, irritability, and even aggression may occur in response to internal experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a state of delirium, patients may change their behavior.
